Opened in 2000, The Tate Modern is part of the family of four galleries
that house the national collection of British art from the 16th century to
modern day. The Tate Modern houses works of international modern and
contempory art dating from 1900 upwards. The other three galleries are:
Tate Britain, Tate Liverpool and Tate St Ives.
The paintings in the Tate Modern are arranged in the following display
themes
: Alejandro Cesarco, Present Memory’, Chromatic Structures’,
Material Gestures’, Poetry and Dream’, Energy and Process’,
Photographic Typologies’ and States of Flux’. At the heart of
each wing is a large central display focusing on one of the fundamental
moments of twentieth-century art history. This area is called the hub’.
The interactive Zone at Tate Modern is ideal for all ages and benefits
from the use of numerous multimedia and hands-on games, books and films
designed to increase familiarity with the modern art that the gallery
enjoys. The Tate Modern is open every day from 10 am to 6 pm with late
