National Gallery
Western European Artworks at their BestThe National Gallery of London came into being in the year 1824, when banker, John Julius Angerstein sold his collection of 36 paintings to the British Government. Situated at the heart of Trafalgar Square, the Gallery is declared as a non-departmental public-body and is visited by approximately 4-5 million people annually. This place accommodates different Western European styles of painting from the 13th to recent 19th century genres. Consisting of a refined collection of over 2,300 paintings, the National Gallery remains open for 361 days. The collections are studied and cared for at the Gallery, which ensures feasible and free access towards these artworks.
